This month, the COVID-19 Pandemic, the efforts of the vaccination programme, the proposed redevelopment of the Anmer Lodge site and finally, the recent developments with the proposed development of Stanmore tube stations all continue to affect residents of Harrow East.
Harrow saw cases increase during October, like much of the rest of the country. Although cases have fallen nationally towards the end of the month, we still have a high prevalence of the virus circulating, highlighting why it is vital we get our jabs to ensure we have protection from the virus.
Vaccine uptake is strong, but if you have not yet had your jabs please ensure to book and attend your appointment when you are eligible to do so. It is only by vaccinating as many people as possible that we can defeat the virus and avoid further restrictions.
If you are unsure how to book, make sure to check the NHS website here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/coronavirus-vaccine/
The total number of booster jabs delivered in Harrow as of the 14th October reached 16,046. This is the highest of any other North West London borough and nearly double the amount delivered in the 10 days prior.
The NHS will contact you to let you know when you are eligible for your booster vaccination. This will be at least 6 months after your 2nd vaccination if you are either aged 50 or over or aged 16 or over with a health condition. All frontline health and social care workers can register for a booster dose if it has been at least 6 months since your second dose of the vaccine.

Anmer Lodge Site
This month, we received notification that Notting hill Housing are submitting a revised planning application on the Anmer Lodge site to propose 196 homes comprised of 1 bed, 2 bed and 3-bedroom flats. They are also proposing commercial space in the town centre which will be exclusive premises to businesses. They are consulting residents and they will also be holding in person site visits so that residents can see the proposals first-hand in the near future.
Stanmore Station Car Park
During the last month, there has been major news in Harrow regarding the planning application to cover Stanmore Station’s car park with multiple blocks of flats, including a tower block alongside the station itself on London Road. We have since learned that due to the Labour Councillors who were unwilling to adopt an amendment proposed by the Conservatives to make the rejection more robust, the London Mayor, Sadiq Khan has decided to call in the application and proceed with the development over the heads of the Planning Committee. This means that, while there are a few avenues open to us, the battle to get this application refused once and for all continues. I will ensure to continue to raise the concerns of many residents about these plans and campaign against these proposals while they remain a possibility.
If you would like to give your voice in opposition to the proposals, make sure to sign my petition if you have not done so already: https://www.bobblackman.org.uk/campaigns/save-stanmore-station-car-park-sign-my-petition
